![]() Starting from version 2.0, you can clone current Windows OS installation (Windows 7 or later) to a USB drive as a Windows To Go. I'm experimenting now with VIBOOT as well as a small Linux system which will include a windows VM - for what I want windows to do a VM will work just fine and linux boots easily enough from external SSD. Step 1: Plug the USB drive into your computer. With 500 GB external SSD I might have 4 or 5 Windows VM's - although not running all concurrently (against EULA - can run 1 at a time on this machine). Step 2: Install and run AOMEI Partition Assistant. Create Windows 10 Live USB with WinToUSB. In its main interface, click 'Windows To Go Creator' in the left panel. Download the WinToUSB software, install and launch it. Connect a blank USB drive to your computer. Select the ISO file you created and the version of Windows 10. Select the USB drive from the drop-down menu. Step 3: In the next screen, click 'Browse' button to specify the Windows 10 or Windows 8 installation file if it is not.
